How did the Adapplicator develop?
The challenge of the 21st century
- The problem
The needle injection in very unpopular among patients; many treatments and inoculations are not carried out due to the fears of patients. The sales of many medications could therefore be increased.
- The task
The E.Braun Company and pharmacologist Dr. K.-D. Beller focussed on offering a medical product which enables medication in ampoules to be administered needle-free in clinics and doctors’ offices.
- The solution
The development of a modern “medical device” (medical product) for the mucosal and non-invasive application of active substances in injection solutions.
With this system, factory-filled ampoules or self-filled ampoules can be used immediately. The Adapplicator is technically suited for all aqueous medications which have to be injected. Psychological stress and the risk of infection can hence be almost completely eliminated. The 100% pain-free application, as well as simple and safe administration, lead to a significant improvement in therapy acceptance at significantly lower costs.
Why the Adapplicator?
- It is presently recognized that not only the dosage of an active substance is solely responsible for therapeutic success. There are many other related factors which determine the path of an agent, starting at its liberation, moving on through absorption, distribution, metabolism up to excretion (LADME-System).
- With the patented Adapplicator, the sublingual, buccal, nasal and topical needle-free application of injection solutions is possible.
- Each ampoule can be turned into an oral spray, nasal spray, skin spray or wound spray. The ampoule content is finely atomized and is very effectively applied to the mucous membrane or skin.
- The defined spread of the dissolved medication over the highly vascularized absorption surface with a defined spray volume and in the determined contact time become possible for the first time.
